St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church - What we Believe
As Lutherans we believe:
The Trinity
We believe in the Triune God - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
God is the Creator and loves all of His creation. God gave humanity His Son to teach us about salvation and as a sacrifice for our sins. God as the Holy Spirt moves and guides us.
We believe the Means of Grace are provided through:
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the written Word of God inspiring faith and a guide to our salvation through the living word Jesus Christ.
The Sacraments
A Sacrament, as defined in Luther's Small Catechism, is a holy ordinance, instituted by Christ, in which invisible heavenly gifts are bestowed upon us through the use of visible earthly elements. As such, we hold true that there are only two holy ordinances that meet this definition: Baptism and Holy Communion.
As a confession of our faith:
The Creeds
Creeds are expressions or statements of belief. We hold and accept as true declarations of faith:
- The Apostles' Creed
- The Nicene Creed
- The Athanasian Creed
